🐾 Empty the Shelters – October 1–15 🐾
Franklin County Humane Society is excited to join BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters, a nationwide adoption event helping pets find loving homes. From October 1–15, 2025, adoption fees will be just $50 for dogs four months and older, and $25 for cats and kittens. Even better, when you adopt one cat or kitten, you can bring home a second for free.
Right now, FCHS is caring for 284 animals, with more orphaned pets arriving every day. By adopting, you not only give a pet the loving home they deserve but also open up space for the next animal in need.
Adoptions will take place at Franklin County Humane Society, located at 1222 West Main Street in Union. We will also be extending our hours by opening on Sunday, October 12, from 12–3 PM for adoptions only. Regular business hours are Monday 11–6, closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 11–6, and Friday and Saturday 11–4.
In addition to the shelter, FCHS adoptable cats housed at Petco and PetSmart in Washington, as well as Petsense in Sullivan, Union, and Eureka, are all eligible for the $25 reduced adoption fees.
